Our Story
United Counsel was established in 1989 by Antonio Corbi with the vision of bridging the gap between Europe and Asia. The company’s initial focus was on supporting multinational companies seeking to establish a local presence in Central Asia by providing multi-sectorial, interdisciplinary business and investment consultancy while acting as country advisor. Over the years, we developed extensive business relations across Asia, Europe and the Middle East and in 2004 United Counsel moved its administrative office to Singapore.
In 2022, the company underwent a generational transition when, following long careers in financial services, Michele and Alessandro joined United Counsel to lead its next chapter. Working out of Switzerland and Singapore, respectively, they combine a wealth of experience in international law, operations, finance, project management and trade.
Who we are
Antonio Corbi
(1956-2022)
Antonio founded United Counsel in 1989 following his first visit to Kazakhstan then known as KSSR, Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic. At the time he was also a financial partner of a law office in Liechtenstein. Antonio recognized the vast potential of Central Asia and identified an opportunity to assist foreign companies in navigating the region successfully. During the following decades, he was instrumental in driving industrial, infrastructure and financial projects in Central Asia alongside large multinationals and actively improved the welfare of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He also served as Swiss Honorary Consul in Almaty from 1993 to 1998. Antonio was a true polyglot, fluent in Italian, English, German, French, Spanish, Russian and Portuguese.
Michele Umberto Corbi
Michele spent eight years working as a capital markets, asset management and project lawyer in a Swiss Private Bank both in Lugano and in Zürich before joining United Counsel in 2021 to lead the company into a new era. Since joining, Michele has originated and led various projects across Europe and Central Asia, supporting clients in identifying and entering attractive new markets while also expanding United Counsel’s own geographical reach. Michele is fluent in English, German, Spanish, Italian, Romanian and French.
Alessandro Corbi
Before joining United Counsel in 2023, Alessandro spent 16 years at Partners Group where he contributed to the company’s tremendous growth from 300 to 2000 employees and the buildup of an operational hub in Asia. As Global Head Product Management he last led a team of 100 people across Singapore, Manila, Zug and Denver. Alessandro is fluent in English, German, Spanish, Italian, and French.
